Whether your a DJ looking to light up peoples lives or you just want to change the bulb in your closest, we hope to provide a "lighting bible", an encyclopedia of lighting, providing everything to help you solve your lighting design issues, do a little diy to implement your design and once it's all in place help you with any issues you may come across.

Light is a fundamental part of everyone's lives, it defines the world around us and defines the shapes, colours and textures of our surroundings. This has been the case throughout our history, whether it's moonlight, fireplace, tourches or electrical light, people have always try to adjust the natural light or create artificial light to improve the aesthetics of our surroundings.

Now we have come along way from fireplaces, torches and oil lamps, today we have so many different chemical and electrical ways of generating light so the variety and effects we can now create is very remarkable.

It all starts with a plan, a goal of what you are looking to achieve, what atmosphere or function are you looking to get. This sounds simple but it's actually quite hard stepping back and deciding how you want people to feel, what you want to highlight and what you want to hide and what you need to be doing in that area. We'll go through some of the common areas that you might be lighting in our lighting by area section and within those areas we'll lay out how to achieve the right atmosphere in our lighting design section.

Once you've got a plan, the next step is practically how to do it. Our diy lighting section should help you through this. Last but not least, and quite often the most fun, we have a section on marking your own lighting with examples and projects with instructions on how to accomplish them.
