Lighting Design

The skill of lighting is the fine balance between practical requirements with the desire to evoke emotions and stun visitors. Like most design elements a good understanding of the users and the uses is a vital starting point. You can't install soft mood lighting for big readers or install strip lighting in the dining room for big entertainers.

Most designers find this out with tons of questions. You might think that as you are doing this yourself, these questions are useless because who knows who better than you. But being as close as you are you often skip of this step so do stop and ask yourself
  • What tasks do you do in the room (list them out)?
  • How old/your are you?
  • What furniture do you have/planning to get?
  • Are you concerned about the environment?
  • How established is the house?
  • What natural light already exists?
  • What emiotion setting at what times of the day do you want?
  • Whats your budget?
  • What are your hobbies?
